Your Life is Your Story, Issue #208 – Thankful for Hard Things November 27, 2023 |
Greetings "Your past is your story up to now. The future is the story yet to come. The present is where you live with that experience, your hopes and your dreams." Your Life is Your Story Newsletter November 27, 2023 Issue #208 – Thankful for Hard Things From Tom Gilbert – Editor and Writer, www.your-life-your-story.com In this Issue: Opening remarks: Now and Then Featured Article: Thankful for Hard Things Featured Resource: Finding Publishing Professionals on Reedsy Opening Remarks: Now and ThenA final Beatles song was recently released to the world. A demo by John Lennon that was recorded to a cassette tape in 1977 and had questionable audio quality was turned into a real Beatles collaboration. Thanks to innovations in machine learning audio restoration technology, Peter Jackson (who did all that amazing work on the 2021 documentary Get Back) was able to separate John’s voice and the piano track and then more work was done to assemble what is truly the last Beatles track. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the two surviving members of the Fab Four, helped with additional playing and vocals. The late George Harrison had recorded some guitar from the previous attempt to make this a Beatles track for the 1995-1996 The Beatles Anthology and that was kept on the updated work for the song “Now and Then”. “Now and Then” is ethereal and evokes memories of all the great music The Beatles gave us. And it seems to me to be a great song for reminiscing while honoring living today. Nice that John Lennon, who was tragically killed in 1980, could have this song come to life in 2023. I’ve been thinking a lot about George Harrison, too, the other Beatle who passed away in late November of 2001. George shared his great talent both in the group and long after with his solo work. Paul and Ringo are still alive and seem to be living good and full lives. It’s pretty special to me to have been alive in the time of The Beatles' great music. Then again, it is pretty special to be alive and thankful for that now and then. Thank you so much for being part of the Your Life Is Your Story community. Thanks to all our subscribers.
